The wines of Chambolle Musigny have long been admired, producing the most delicate and elegant examples in the Cote de Nuits – their power derives not from size and concentration, but from a coordination of flavor and finesse. Though slightly larger than Morey St. Denis in the extent of its vineyards, the village is compact, with fewer than twenty producers. There is a distinctive expression of terroir, which comes from an unusually abundant presence of limestone. Chambolle Musigny’s wines may be light in structure, but they are still quite intense, showing the beautiful perfume of Pinot Noir more radiantly.
